I'm still feeling up to the task. At this rate I might as well start looking for the Ark of the Covenant too as it will likely be easier to find.

I have a 99!
Hey, I was just reading all these posts. Sounds like a seriously tough time. But...I have a possible.
I have a 99 SR5 with 120,000, 5sp, 4WD. CD Player, sunroof, and rear window all funcitonal.
It is an east coast car, so the front bumper is rusty, but the rest of the body looks amazing. I've never wheeled in it. I'm actually taking to a dealer tomorrow to have an inspection done, trying to figure out where it might need some work, if any.
Let me know, I'm in Estes Park, CO, I'm assuming you're in Colorado as well?
Thanks

I am indeed interested. And yes, I'm just down the road in Boulder. Shoot me an e-mail so that I can get all of the gory details.

The second is simply way too much money (overpriced by at least $8K IMHO).
I either need to change my expectations or accept the fact that the amount of time I'll need to put into this is going to be considerably more than first expected.

If you don't mind buying Canadian you could always try Kijiji.

What is this Kijiji you speak of? Didn't see anyone by that username.

You are indeed looking for something that is nearly impossible to find.
Here's a 4x4 5-speed on eBay, in good condition, decently close to you.
Toyota : 4Runner: eBay Motors (item 350386192574 end time Aug-26-10 13:14:01 PDT)
Unless you're willing to pony $11k, I really doubt you'll find something to your exact specs in the next 1-2 years.

I used to search for the perfect 77-79 trans am. spent yrs. finally found it 3 blocks from me in a basement lol!
had to sell it in a fire sale when I bought the house and needed $ asap for a rehab job that spiraled out of control
I am currently trying to find the certain color & yr combo of kawasaki zrx also
hunting for that odd duck combo is dumb luck imho
something you are willing to pay top dollar for some jerk is gonna get for a song and a dance cauze their dad is trading it in or a buddy needs to sell- the odd ducks never seem to hit CL,ebay or the paper when you are looking for them

Just got home 2 hours ago with a 2000 Sport w/5-spd and 120K on the clock. Oh, and the timing belt/water pump & rear main seals have been done within the last 4yrs/25K miles. w00t!!!

That does look rather nice, but got an even nicer one in the garage as of today. I do appreciate the effort however.

Well congratulations on the purchase. Your search is finally over for the vehicle and now onto the mods I'm assuming.

Thanks! I can now reclaim a large portion of my life.
Just wanna get the basics outta the way first: - Remove running boards
- Remove bug deflector
- Remove pin stripe(s)
- Remove gold badges (paint what's left)
- Steam clean carpet
- Clean & condition leather
- Buff/polish/wax paint
- Buy new OEM floor mats
Then I'll enjoy it for a week and start burning money.

Lol. How much did you pay? And did you get a rear locker?
Also, we demand pictures of the prized possession....
